How is my faith?

Reading: Genesis 22, Hebrews 11:17-19
Perhaps the greatest manifestation of our faith was the moment of salvation when we placed our all in the hands of the Lord and trusted Him. But how has my faith been since then? Has my faith been growing? In a world that places great value on being independent, self-reliant and self-sufficient, it is easy to get caught up in it ourselves. Abraham is a great example to us of faith. God had promised that Abraham’s descendants would be in number like the stars of heaven while he did not have any children. God kept His promise and gave Abraham and Sarah a son in their old age. Then God told Abraham to offer up his only son as a sacrifice to God. We don’t read of Abraham questioning or even delaying in fulfilling God’s request. In order for God to fulfill His promise to Abraham, Abraham concluded that God would have to raise Isaac from the dead (Heb. 11:19). Abraham’s faith was rewarded as God provided a substitute for Isaac and gave us a foreshadowing of Christ as our substitute on the Cross. Let us remember Who it is we are placing our faith in…He is able!
